Dr. Joseph Ritchie earned his Bachelor’s degree at The Ohio State University and went on to medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. His Orthopedic Surgery Residency was completed at the USAF Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas and his Sports Medicine Fellowship training was completed at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. After serving in the United States Air Force, Dr. Ritchie came to St. Louis in 1997.
Dr. Ritchie's training and experience enable him to give comprehensive care to problems of the musculoskeletal system. His focus is on shoulder, hip and knee. His training and experience enable him to treat these joints with surgical options ranging from advanced arthroscopic techniques to minimally invasive joint replacement. Due to his ability and training in sports medicine, Dr. Ritchie is often referred complex surgical problems from other orthopedic surgeons.
His expertise in sports medicine has led to his being sought to care for numerous athletic organizations. Since being in St. Louis, he has served as Orthopedic Team Physician for St. Louis University, Webster University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He continues to cover several local high schools and colleges.
Dr. Ritchie’s staffing privileges include Des Peres Hospital and the Timberlake Surgery Center in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Dr. Ritchie also serves as a Resident Trainer for the Des Peres Hospital Department of Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program and gives numerous presentations and lectures for the medical and local community.
